High Limit Room = Higher Risk & I’m Not Just Talking About the Bets

As many of our favorite advantage play machines increase in popularity I’ve noticed that several casinos have let their big players join in on the action by introducing these same machines in their high limit rooms. Of course this is a great development for advantage slot players to be able to find opportunities on 10, 25 cent & $1 denomination Scarab, Ocean Magic, Golden Egypt or Dragonsphere machines.

For perspective it takes 25 plays on a $3.75 Golden Egypt to match a single 375 credit play on quarter denomination. Yes, not all advantage plays turn out to be winning plays & at these higher denominations the losses, when they come, will be larger. But for those hustlers with the means to afford to play at these denominations this is absolutely huge & a big time money maker for advantage players.

Now the purpose of this post is not to state that bigger bets equal bigger risk & bigger wins. This is stating the obvious. Again this website is dedicated primarily to those who are new to the advantage slot playing game & the point of this post is to tell you to tread carefully in these high limit rooms. High limit rooms almost always have less traffic than the main gaming floor. So naturally casinos & their surveillance are more familiar with players who regularly enter the area. Some of them are even aware that some machines are vulnerable to being advantage played & others who may not be privy to some of their machines being advantage played raise red flags by seeing the same hustlers repeatedly walking in, checking for plays & walking out.

While it may be acceptable to camp or squat near a machine waiting for an advantage play on the main floor, DO NOT do this in the high limit area if you plan on being a long term visitor to that casino. I knew of one young hustler who selfishly wanted all of the plays to himself & sat directly behind anyone who played a 25 cent denomination Golden Egypt. Yes, he got all of the plays & yes, it annoyed the other hustlers. But everyone knew what was coming. He disappeared from that casino shortly after.

The bottom line is that by constantly looking for bigger plays in the high limit, you acknowledge that you’re putting yourself at risk of getting thrown out. I’ve been told by a few hustlers & have personally experienced being backed off of a machine while checking in the high limit. It makes your heart skip a beat for a moment but I was able to talk my way out of trouble without incident. But I now knew that this casino’s high limit area was a no go zone for me. It’s because of this that some slot hustlers I know rarely go into the high limit or only go when they can clearly see that there is a play when peeking in from the outside.

I’m not trying to discourage you from ever going into the high limit. If they have advantage machines, that’s where the big money is. I’ll wrap this up by offering some tips to help you navigate the high limit area as a slot hustler. First of all, play it cool. Don’t be too obvious by storming the room & making a beeline to the advantage machine(s) every time you enter. The machine isn’t going to sprout legs and run away from you. Again, this area gets less traffic & play. You don’t need to walk in there every 10 minutes. Lastly try to remember what you or the last player cashed out on the machine(s). If it’s the same when you walk back in you don’t need to touch the machine.
